Essential "must have" experience :-
- All Microsoft windows operating systems anything back from Windows 11 back through Windows 10, 8, 7, XP, Windows 2000, Windows Millennium, to Windows 98, 95 way back to Windows 3.11 and DOS V6 V5. Knowledge of apple IOS would be a distinct advantage.
- Is familiar and at ease with delving into Client PC's and laptops often on site in challenging environment. There really isn't that much different whether it is an an office or home based business or a private pc within the home.
- Car owner (bicycles are AOK) Full clean driving license - Expenses will be provided
- Have a good speaking voice and a personable personality. We are a people first business and our clients have a thing about "Dead-Pan" technobabble. The ability to communicate on their level is an essential skill that you must possess
- Be prepared to be DBS Checked
Who We're Looking For
We primarily support the over-60s, although we work with clients of all ages. Many of our customers are well into their 90s and are confident users of computers and tablets, so it’s important to approach every customer without assumptions. A friendly, patient and personable attitude is essential.
You will be expected to visit clients with little prior knowledge of the IT issue they are experiencing. This could range from resolving printer or Wi-Fi problems to repairing virus-infected laptops or diagnosing hardware faults. A solid background in troubleshooting both hardware and software issues will put you in a strong position for the role. You should also be confident providing clear, fixed-price quotations for the work required and communicating openly with clients if a job is likely to exceed the allocated time.

The most important quality we’re looking for is someone who is friendly, open and honest. You should have the ability to put our clients at ease, adapting your communication to suit their level of knowledge while ensuring they always feel comfortable and in control throughout the support process.
Many of our customers have spent decades using computers in the workplace but still believe they “know nothing” about technology. In reality, their knowledge is often greater than they realise, and their support needs can be very specific. Patience, understanding and excellent communication skills are therefore just as important as technical ability.
The Role
- Ideally suited to applicants aged 60+ (applications from those aged 50–75 are also welcome).
- Provide telephone and remote support, with visits to support contract clients following your training period.
- Be physically fit and able to carry out a varied range of on-site IT support tasks.
- Process customer payments by card and occasionally cash, with cash returned to the office for banking.
- Own transport is advantageous, although alternative solutions are available.
